“From my earliest memories, the beauty of our natural world has been a love and passion. In my paintings I try to capture a bit of that beauty, be it a landscape, an animal, bird, or insect. Each has a unique statement. Many of my works are traditional oils on canvas. However, a favorite substrate for my acrylic work is metal roof shingles reclaimed from old homes and churches. I clean much of the rust and layers of paint from them and love the irregular surface that remains. It seems to relate to the nature and scenes I love to paint. My wish is that the viewer will be drawn in by the colors and surfaces as much as by the subject, seeing something new each time.”
